Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Certain posts (Table-II) require specific subjects like Home Science, Sociology, Economics, Commerce, Psychology, Statistics or Mathematics.
Age Limit (as per notification)
Minimum 21–22 years (post-wise). Maximum 37 years (Male) / 40 years (Female). Age relaxations applicable as per Bihar Govt. rules for reserved categories.

- 35% horizontal reservation for women candidates across all categories
- Standard vertical reservations: SC, ST, EBC, BC, EWS as per Bihar rules
- Bihar domicile candidates get additional benefits in certain categories

What is the revised total vacancies for 72nd BPSC?
The total has been revised to 1,186 vacancies after BPSC issued a corrigendum deleting 44 posts of Sugarcane Officer (now to be filled under separate rules).
When is the 72nd BPSC Prelims exam?
The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for 26 July 2026 in offline mode. Admit cards are expected in the second or third week of July.
What is the new 5-option rule in Prelims?
BPSC has introduced Option ‘E’. Candidates must bubble one of the five options for every question. Leaving a question completely blank (no option selected) will now attract negative marking of 1/3 mark, in addition to the existing 1/3 negative for wrong answers.
Can I still prepare if I appeared for 71st BPSC Mains?
