Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Examination conducted by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission for recruitment to Group A & B posts.

Posts: Deputy Collector, DSP, BDO, ARTO, Commercial Tax Officer, Jail Superintendent, and 40+ other prestigious posts.

Selection Process: Preliminary (Objective) → Mains (Written) → Interview (Personality Test)

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University. No specific stream required (except certain posts like Principal, Labour Enforcement Officer etc. which have additional requirements).

Must be completed by last date of application

Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026)

Minimum: 21 years

Maximum: 40 years (born not earlier than 02 July 1986 & not later than 01 July 2005)

+5 years — SC/ST/OBC/Skilled Players/State Govt Employees

+15 years — Persons with Benchmark Disability (PH)

+3 years + Service — Ex-Servicemen/EC/SSC Officers

Other Requirements

UP Domicile mandatory for reservation & age relaxation benefits
Physical standards applicable for DSP, Jail Superintendent, Home Guard Commandant, Excise Inspector etc.
Character & medical fitness as per service rules

STAGE 1 • PRELIMINARY Objective Type • OMR Based

Paper-I : General Studies-I 200 Marks

2 Hours | 150 Questions

Current events, History of India & Indian National Movement, Indian Polity & Governance, Economic & Social Development, Geography, General Science, UP Specific GK.

Paper-II : General Studies-II 200 Marks (Qualifying)

2 Hours | 100 Questions | Min 33% required

Comprehension, Interpersonal skills, Logical reasoning & analytical ability, Decision making, General mental ability, Elementary Mathematics (up to Class X), General English & Hindi (Class X level).

Note: Merit decided only on Paper-I marks. Paper-II is qualifying only.

Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks for each wrong answer
