What is UPPCS 2026?

The Uttar Pradesh Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination 2026 (popularly known as UPPCS 2026 or UPPSC PCS 2026) is one of the most prestigious and competitive state civil services examinations in India. Conducted annually by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), Prayagraj, it recruits officers for various Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ posts in the Uttar Pradesh state administration.

Successful candidates are appointed to coveted positions such as Deputy Collector (SDM), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Block Development Officer (BDO), Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Commercial Tax Officer, Naib Tehsildar, Assistant Labour Commissioner, and many more administrative and executive roles that directly impact governance and public service delivery across Uttar Pradesh.

With approximately 500 vacancies announced in the official notification released on 25 June 2026, the examination offers a direct path to a respected career in public administration with excellent pay scales, job security, and opportunities to serve the people of India’s most populous state.

CHAPTER 01

UPPCS 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before filling the application form, every aspirant must thoroughly understand and satisfy all the eligibility conditions laid down in the official notification. Ineligible candidates’ applications are liable to be rejected at any stage.

Nationality & Domicile Requirement

A candidate must be a citizen of India. This is the basic nationality requirement.

Important Note on Domicile:

  • Reservation benefits (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, horizontal reservations) and age relaxations are available only to candidates who are permanent residents / domiciled in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Candidates belonging to other states will be treated as General category candidates. They are not entitled to any reservation or age relaxation even if they belong to reserved categories in their home state.
  • UP Domicile Certificate is mandatory for claiming reservation benefits. It must be issued by the competent authority of Uttar Pradesh.

Age Limit for UPPCS 2026

Age is calculated as on the cut-off date: 1st July 2026

Category Minimum Age Maximum Age Relaxation

CrackTarget Advice: Many aspirants in the 39-40 age bracket get confused about the exact cut-off. If your 40th birthday falls on or after 2 July 2026, you are generally eligible. Double-check with your date of birth certificate and consult the detailed notification or UPPSC helpline if in doubt.
