India's exports in April–June 2026 rose about 15% year-on-year to $129.32 billion, and goods exports in June reached $44.24 billion. Net exports contributed about 3 percentage points to the 7.8% GDP growth recorded for the quarter. The inflows created a liquidity surplus of about ₹6.7 lakh crore in the banking system by the end of August. The RBI has been absorbing the surplus through variable rate reverse repo auctions. Reserves are made up of foreign currency assets, gold, Special Drawing Rights and the reserve tranche position with the IMF.

An ISRO study found that the peak time of burning shifted from about 1:30 pm in 2020 to about 5 pm in 2024. Many polar-orbiting satellites pass over the region around midday, so later burning can be missed in fire counts. Peptide-based piezoelectric materials for self-powered implants
Researchers from the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences, IISER Kolkata and JNCASR Bengaluru developed peptide-based piezoelectric materials that convert body movements, such as heartbeats or walking, into electricity. Unlike brittle ceramic piezoelectrics, the new materials are biodegradable and compatible with the body. Possible uses include medical implants, wearable devices and electronic skin. The work was highlighted in a PIB release by the Department of Science and Technology.
