IFSCA Grade A 2026–27 Preparation Hub: Syllabus, Pattern, GIFT City Notes & MCQs

CRACKTARGET EXAM LIBRARY · Updated 26 October 2026

IFSCA Grade A preparation hub for General, Legal and Information Technology streams. The pattern discussed below is taken from the official 2025 Grade A recruitment notice; this is not a claim that a new 2026–27 recruitment has opened.

Official exam pattern: 2025 reference

The official 2025 advertisement prescribed the following examination structure. A new notification can change any of these details. Check IFSCA Careers before applying.

Stage2025 official structureTraining priority
Phase I Paper 1100 marks, 60 minutes: financial awareness, English, quant, reasoning (25 questions each)Speed and accuracy
Phase I Paper 250 technical MCQs, 100 marks, 60 minutes; stream-specificCore technical concepts
Phase II Paper 1Descriptive English: précis 35, essay 30, comprehension 35; 60 minutesTimed writing

Historical caution: The 2025 objective papers specified one-quarter negative marking, with separate cut-offs and aggregate requirements. For the General Stream, Phase II Paper 2 emphasised the IFSCA Act, Union Budget/Economic Survey, banking, markets, insurance, pensions, bullion and GIFT IFSC. None of these figures should be treated as automatically binding on a later cycle.

High-yield concept notes

1. Unified regulator: jurisdiction is the keyword

IFSCA administers the international financial-services-centre framework within its statutory remit. This does not make it a nationwide replacement for RBI, SEBI, IRDAI or PFRDA. In a tricky question, determine where the activity occurs, which product is involved and which legal regime governs it.

2. IFSC Banking Units and financial markets

An IFSC Banking Unit operates under the IFSC framework; it is not automatically identical to a bank’s ordinary domestic branch. Compare permissible business, client segments, currencies, prudential norms and reporting requirements. The IFSC market ecosystem also includes securities exchanges, investment funds, bullion infrastructure, insurance and leasing.

3. GIFT IFSC examples to connect

  • Capital markets: listings, trading venues, intermediaries, fund management and disclosure.
  • Bullion: India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX) and its market infrastructure.
  • Leasing: aircraft and ship leasing structures and associated financial services.
  • Financial technology: digital services, innovation models and regulatory frameworks.
  • Cross-border finance: currency, foreign participants and international supervisory principles.

4. Descriptive English

For a timed essay, build a direct thesis, two analytical sections, a counterargument and a practical conclusion. For précis writing, identify the central argument, preserve only essential supporting ideas and avoid adding personal opinions. Practise with a 60-minute stopwatch and review clarity, grammar and logical flow.
