You may apply for a maximum of two streams if you meet both eligibility conditions. Each stream needs a separate application and a separate fee (where fee is payable).

Selection process

  1. Phase I — online screening. Two papers of 100 marks each. Qualifying. Marks are not counted in the final merit.
  2. Phase II — online main exam. Two papers of 100 marks each. This stage carries 85% weight in the final merit.
  3. Phase III — Interview. Usually up to 5 times the vacancies are called. Interview carries 15%. You can choose Hindi or English.

Negative marking of one-fourth applies to objective papers. You must clear paper-wise and aggregate cut-offs as decided by PFRDA.

Exam pattern 2026 — what actually changed

Phase I

PaperContentQuestionsMarksTime
Paper 1 (all streams)English 20 Q / 25 M · Quant 20 Q / 25 M · Reasoning 30 Q / 25 M · GA (incl. financial sector) 20 Q / 25 M9010060 min
Paper 2Stream-specific professional knowledge5010040 min

Change you cannot ignore: Paper 1 moved from 80 questions to 90 questions. The extra 10 questions are in Reasoning (30 Qs for the same 25 marks). Speed and selection of questions now decide the cut-off.

Phase II

PaperContentMarksTimeWeight
Paper 1Descriptive English (drafting: essay / précis / comprehension)10060 min1/3
Paper 2Stream-specific MCQs (deeper than Phase I)10040 min2/3

General stream Paper 2 now includes the older core (Commerce & Accountancy, Management, Finance, Costing, Companies Act, Economics, Pension Sector) plus PFRDA Act 2013, Union Budget & Economic Survey, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Media, and Marketing & Communication.

Generic RBI/SEBI notes will leave these new units untouched. That is why CrackTarget rebuilt the PFRDA 2026 course from the 3 September notification, not from last year’s PDF.

Salary and why this post is worth the sprint

Starting basic pay is ₹62,500 on the scale ₹62,500–1,26,100 (17 years). Gross emoluments at the minimum of the scale are about ₹2.05 lakh per month, including PFRDA’s NPS contribution and allowances. Add LFC, medical, accident insurance, learning allowance and other benefits listed in the notification.

This is a regulatory officer role — policy, supervision and development of India’s pension system (NPS / APY and related architecture). No sales target. High credibility. Short vacancy cycle. That combination is why serious aspirants should not waste September on scattered YouTube playlists.

The best way to prepare PFRDA Grade A 2026 is CrackTarget

Most platforms will copy last year’s SEBI/RBI notes and paste a “PFRDA” label on top. That is not preparation for this notification.

  • Course mapped to Advt. 03/2026 — including the new 90-question Paper 1 and the new Paper 2 units.
  • Stream-wise coverage for General, Research, Actuary and Rajbhasha.
  • 40-day Phase I plan (you do not have a long runway) and a Phase II descriptive + professional plan after 15 October.

  • Mentorship built by people who treat regulatory exams as a craft, not a content dump.
