UPSC APFC
Books & study material
Buy less. Read the official text. Use one subject book. Practise from previous papers and a large question bank. This list follows Appendix-I of Advt 52/2026. It is a reading order, not a shopping list of five books per head.
Two books that sit across every subject
These are not subject textbooks. They are how you learn what UPSC actually asks in the Recruitment Test.
CrackTarget Last Years Solved Questions
Solved previous APFC and related EPFO papers, arranged so you can see the question, the answer and why the other options fail. Use this before you buy a second subject book.
- Attempt the paper first, then open the solved version.
- Tag every miss to official heads i–ix.
- That tally decides which subject book you open next.
CrackTarget 15000 Model Questions for UPSC EPFO APFC 2026
A large practice bank written to the nine official heads and to the mixed-subject RT pattern (objective questions, negative marking). Use it after a chapter, not as a substitute for the official Code or NCERT.
- Sectional sets for labour, accounts, polity, economy, English, quant.
- Mixed sets that feel like the 120-question paper.
- Re-solve only the questions you missed. Do not collect a second bank.
An unbiased order — not a taller pile
1. Official text
Labour Codes, EPF Act, ESI Act, Constitution, Budget, Survey, NCERT. If a fact is in the Gazette, that is the source of truth.
2. One subject book
The CrackTarget book named under that official head. It is written to RT depth. It is not a CA / LL.M. / CSE-optional substitute.
3. Then questions
Last Years Solved Questions for pattern. 15000 Model Questions for volume. Free mocks on the site for the 2-hour sitting.

Book mistakes
Buying
- Five books for one official head
- A CSE optional book because the title sounds similar
- A CA Foundation set for a 120-question RT
- Skipping Last Years Solved Questions because “I will do mocks later”
Using
- Highlighting a book and never opening the 15000 bank
- Reading topic ii all month because the book is familiar
- Treating a model-question bank as the official key
- Ignoring India Code when a labour MCQ feels disputed
Official text. One subject book. Then 15000 questions.
Start with Last Years Solved Questions. Buy the CrackTarget book only for the head that is leaking. Keep the Codes on the desk.
