Exact Phase 2 Exam Pattern 2026
As per official RBI notification. Papers I & III have both objective + descriptive. English is fully descriptive (typed).

Objective Section (Papers I & III)

Descriptive Section
- • ESI/FM: 6 questions → attempt any 4 (2×15 + 2×10 marks)

Realistic Target Scores (to be safe)
Objective 30–38 + Descriptive 35–40 is a strong range. Current affairs + reports decide the score.
Most scoring paper if you practise typing + structure. Many toppers cross 80 here.
Management is highly scoring. Finance needs concepts + current RBI updates.
Overall Safe Zone: 200+ out of 300
Aim for 210–220 if you want a strong position for interview shortlisting.
5-Day Crash Plan (21–25 July 2026)
Exam is on 25 July. No new books. Only revision + answer writing + current affairs.
Morning (4–5 hrs)

Paper I — ESI Strategy
Target: 65–75+. Almost 60–70% questions are current affairs linked. Static is the base.

15-mark answer structure (approx 250–300 words):

- Body — 4–5 points with sub-headings if possible

- Way forward / suggestions
- Conclusion — balanced, forward-looking (1–2 lines)
Always link static concept with latest data or scheme.
Paper III — Finance & Management Strategy
Target: 70–80+. Management is more scoring and predictable. Finance needs conceptual clarity + RBI updates.

Pro Tip for FM Descriptive:
In Management answers, always give examples from banking/RBI/public sector. In Finance answers, use latest RBI data, circulars or policy measures. This differentiates average answers from high-scoring ones.
Paper II — Descriptive English Strategy
Target: 70–85+. This paper has the highest scoring potential if you practise typing and structure.
Structure
- 1. Hook + Context (40–50 words)
- 2. Body — 3–4 balanced arguments with data/examples
- 3. Counter view (if relevant)
- 4. Way forward + Conclusion
Word limit discipline is critical. Stay within 500–600 words.
